Starting to think at a new level thanks to Rob Bell's book. It is as I have said before, brilliant. The book is provoking serious thought as to what it is to live as a Christian in today's World. I am on a whole new Journey as I consider what it is to worship within the context of what he is saying and where we go from there.

I think, in terms of what it is to lead someone on the Journey into God's Truth, I almost feel that I have been blind to so much. It is genuinely enthralling to consider God's constant desire to reveal Himself to us, and the living nature of His Word.

I know God is crying out for us to engage at a whole new level. Let us be open to this call and I think that you will be amazed at how God will speak to us, what He will Say and who He chooses to say these things to us.

Questions

I am currently reading Rob Bell's excellent book, Velvet Elvis. Don't be put off by the title. I am not a big Elvis fan, but I am a big fan of Jesus. And the book has a lot to say about Him.

The fascinating thing about the book is the central role a questioning mind has within the Christian Faith. Christianity is indeed THE answer, but what does that mean?

What does it mean to "be a Christian"?

I am not seeking to challenge God's Word, but the thing that interests me about this book is how it draws you to consider what is Interpretation and what is Truth.

I'd love to hear from other people 'jumping on the trampoline and not building fragile walls".

After a time of time out, I am reflecting on what it is to disciple a young person. I believe that Jesus taught His Disciples close up and led by Example. But I am only Human even compared to the Apostle Paul. Is Discipleship really an option when we are such flawed reflections of God's Glory.

I am aware that the Journey I have taken is regarded by many Church Goers as radical, and yet it feels normal to me.

How do we learn how to be effective examples of people called by God to risk take and live on the edge when it proves such a scary place to be....

As always, your reflections would be appreciated.

A new Christian Youth Minister pauses for thought....it's been nearly ten years since I was last full time and I didn't have blogs in those days. I guess that at the moment, nothing I say will be too profound. I'm hoping that you will be more so. Help me out to start with....

Anybody got any clever ideas on how one communicates Grace and Accountability without 'over egging' either?
